Norman footprint(s) photo exhibition - Call for contributions

00:00 01-02-26 - 00:00 30-09-26

The Alliance Française de Jersey and the Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche are proposing a photography exhibition project, open to amateur photographers, with the aim of highlighting emblematic sites linked to the Norman epic — from the United Kingdom to Normandy, via Jersey, Guernsey, Southern Italy, Norway and Denmark — through a major participatory photography exhibition, potentially itinerant, in 2027, the year of the Norman Millennium.

What does the project involve?

1. Through a voluntary call for contributions from amateur (and potentially professional) photographers across all relevant territories. February – September 2026

  • To take part in the project and have a chance of being selected, photographers must submit at least one photograph (in electronic format) that meets the criteria set out in the call for contributions.
  • Each photograph must be accompanied by a text written by its author (in their native language and translated into French and English), providing both context on how the photographed subject relates to the history of the Norman epic, and explaining the photographer’s choice, perspective and personal connection to the subject.

2. Selection of thirty photographs to form the exhibition
The selection committee will be composed of the two project leads and, where requested, one representative per partner territory (maximum).
October 2026 – January 2027

3. An itinerant photography exhibition. Each partner organisation will be organising an exhibition on its own territory, showcasing part or all of the selected works.
February – December 2027
