It is 1828. Victor Hugo is 26 years old. Notre-Dame Cathedral is in a state of disrepair. Restoration work by Viollet-le-Duc and Jean-Baptiste Lassus will not begin until 1843. Notre-Dame is slowly dying, and Hugo is determined to bring it back to life, as it was in the Middle Ages. To do so, he embarks on a fascinating journey of investigation and discovery…

The immersive audio fiction In Search of Notre-Dame, preceded by the 3D archaeo-concert Listening to the Past at Notre-Dame, takes us inside the mind of the young Victor Hugo as he begins researching what will become his monumental novel, Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).

This is also a unique exploration of the sounds of Notre-Dame, inviting us to discover the cathedral's acoustics and soundscapes throughout the centuries.
