Partial reopening of Alliance Française

We are very pleased to let you know that the Alliance Française has been preparing its reopening to the public after almost 3 months of closure so that some of you can get face to face lessons.

From Tuesday 9th June, we will open for private classes and by appointment only for the library. Students who wish to come back can contact their teacher to let them know.

From Friday 12th June, we will reopen for small classes, with a maximum of 3 or 4 people per class. The decision to move back to onsite classes will only be taken if your group unanimously agrees to come back. We will therefore only resume a few classes onsite to start with and we will keep offering online classes for those who do not feel they are ready to come back yet.

We have established a strict risk assessment and hygiene protocol. Our teachers will follow these guidelines and we will need your cooperation as well.

This protocol includes a lot a common sense that most of you will be familiar with by now. We will ask you to use the hand sanitizing gel when entering the Alliance, avoid hand contact, use a disposable tissue when sneezing or your arm and wash your hands etc. We ask you not to come to the Alliance if you have any sign of a temperature or persistent cough or if you are a severely vulnerable person.

We have organised classes to allow physical distancing, and there are a few extra changes that we would like you to consider :

  • Wearing a mask when coming and leaving class (for adults)
  • Bringing your own pen, notebook and coursebook as we won’t be able to lend you one
  • Your teacher will limit the number of photocopies given to you and will instead upload documents on Apolearn for you to print at home. Homework should also be submitted on Apolearn or in digital form.
  • Our tea/coffee area will be closed and we ask you to bring your own drink if you want one
  • We will need a few minutes to ventilate and disinfect tables and chairs between two lessons, so we thank you in advance for your patience
  • Children and parents are asked to wait outside the building where teachers will come to collect them up and bring them back with a few minutes between each group.

To facilitate the use of the Library, we are pleased to launch our online catalogue https://afjersey.bibli.fr/ where you can now book items by creating an account. Items returned will be disinfected and put aside for 5 days.

We thank you for your cooperation and don’t hesitate to contact us on 875655 should you have any questions.
