Chers étudiants / Dear Students,
The committee of l’Alliance Française de Jersey has taken the decision yesterday evening to close the Alliance to the public from Monday 23rd March to help delay the spread of the Coronavirus. Our team of teachers is already working hard to provide an alternative to classes via internet.
Adult group classes and private classes will take place on Zoom video conference tool from next week. Those who work with the coursebook will have access to our Apolearn platform where they can do interactive exercises and see their scheduled tasks and virtual classes.
Of course it will take a bit of adjusting on your side and ours. You can join from a laptop, a desktop computer (it is better if they have a camera so we can see you as well), a tablet or a phone. It might help if you have earphones/headphones with a microphone but otherwise your computer microphone and speakers also works. We will be able to see you and you us, and all the other students as well.
Here is a 50 second video to explain how it works : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFhAEoCF7jg
You will receive a link to your next virtual class either on your email or via Apolearn. Click on the link well before the meeting to download Zoom so that if you have a problem you can discuss it with us.
A few minutes before the time allocated by your teacher, go back to the email and click on the link again, it will take you to Zoom and wait for the session to start, your teacher will start it.
We have tested Zoom on iPads, laptops and phones and all have worked so far (but a larger display gives a better experience as you will need to look at the shared screen).
If you encounter issues with sound, restarting your computer might be all it needs. Firefox seems to cause some sound issues too so we would recommend using a different browser.
We are looking forward to seeing you in our virtual classrooms soon, and many thanks for your support and understanding.
